|
Microtherm® Hydrophobic Block is the water resistant grade of
Microtherm® Block, selected for applications where exposure
to water in liquid form may cause damage to the insulation structure.
Microporous insulations have around 90% structural voidage and will
readily absorb water. This water can cause a partial collapse of the
insulation structure with an associated increase in thermal
conductivity. Hydrophobic Microtherm® can actually be
immersed in water for long periods without any harmful effects. It may
absorb up to 10% by weight of water into its void structure but it can
then be dried off by simply allowing the water to be drained and
released from the insulation. This will cause no degradation of the
excellent thermal protection capabilities of the Microtherm®
insulation. |

| Key benefits |
|
|
Microtherm® Hydrophobic Block. * Water repellent microporous
insulation offering the lowest theoretically possible thermal
conductivity over a wide temperature range up to 1000 °C (1832 °F) *
Available from stock in a range of thicknesses for maximum versatility
in use * Environmentally friendly with no known health hazards when used
within prescribed temperature limits. |

| Your value |
|
Microtherm® Hydrophobic Block * Fully water resistant up to
250 °C (482 °F). This is progessively destroyed at higher temperatures *
Microtherm® thermal insulation has a thermal performance at
least 3 to 4 times better than conventional insulation materials at high
temperatures. It has a thermal conductivity even lower than still air *
Microtherm® insulation solutions occupy much less volume than
conventional insulation materials and offer weight savings * • Available
in a range of stock thicknesses, and also in tailor made sizes for
simplest and fastest installation in specific applications.
